LWK is a real estate private equity firm focused on the acquisition and operation of sub-institutional value-add multifamily assets in California, with a concentration in Los Angeles. LWK targets undermanaged assets with multiple levers to create value through operational improvements, value-add renovations, and opportunities to add density via new unit development. LWK prioritizes situations where new unit development economics allow us to deliver naturally occurring affordable housing in supply constrained communities.

Austin is a Co-Founder & Partner of LWK, and co-leads sourcing, acquisitions, and capital raising. In 2017, he founded Keystone Investors and Penguin Property Management and has grown those firms to $50 million in assets under management and 175 units. He raised $20 million from 160 investors, led the acquisition and repositioning of 18 multifamily assets, and managed $4 million of construction associated with 80 extensive unit renovations and 15 capital improvement projects.
Austin started his career flipping cars, then moved to acquiring and managing small properties in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated summa cum laude from Boston College and worked in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Citi in NYC. He worked at CIM Group in Los Angeles and focused on acquisitions and asset management across markets and asset classes. After CIM, he started Keystone Investors, Penguin Property Management, and most recently LWK with the conviction that value-add multifamily in Los Angeles in areas he defined as “Urban Nodes” provided the best opportunity for long-term investment.
Austin lives in Santa Monica, has two kids, and likes to surf, play soccer, rock climb, and mountain bike.
Matt is a Co-Founder & Partner of LWK, co-leading the firm’s acquisitions, strategic partnerships and capital relationships. Matt has 10+ years of real estate private equity, corporate private equity and investment banking experience. Prior to LWK, Matt was Director of Acquisitions at a Chicago-based family office with ~$500 million of real estate assets under management, where he opened the LA office and founded and led the firm’s net lease industrial strategy and other opportunistic co-investments.
Prior thereto, Matt was a Private Equity Associate at Ares Management (NYSE: ARES), a leading global alternative asset manager with over $450 billion under management. While at Ares, Matt evaluated acquisitions, divestitures, and special situations investments across industries and across the capital structure. Matt also served as a Board Observer for Ares portfolio companies including CHG Healthcare, Jacuzzi Brands, Verdad Resources and Cureton Midstream.
Matt began his career as an investment banking analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York, where he worked on mergers, acquisitions and restructurings across industries. Matt graduated with Honors from the University of Pennsylvania.

Andrew is a Co-Founder & Partner of LWK, spearheading day-to-day operations and fostering new partnerships with investors, brokers and vendors. Andrew is a 20+ year commercial real estate executive and entrepreneur with multi-product expertise across value-add, development, leasing and property management.
Prior to co-founding LWK he managed a 500,000 square foot portfolio of mixed collateral in prime West Los Angeles locations for the Ruth Group.
Before joining the Ruth Group, Andrew led West Coast asset management and leasing at CIM Group from 2010 to 2020, overseeing a portfolio of more than 25 million square feet across California, Washington, Colorado, Texas and Illinois. Andrew began his professional career two decades ago at Cushman & Wakefield.
Andrew graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
Matt is a Co-Founder & Partner of LWK, leading day-to-day operations and implementing institutional best-practices across our portfolio. Matt brings 20+ years of expertise across executive leadership, operations, restructuring, portfolio optimization and capital markets brokerage. His diverse transaction experience includes over seven million square feet with $2.5+ billion in consideration.
Prior to co-founding LWK, Matt was Senior West Coast Executive for WeWork, leading restructuring and leasing efforts for the company’s 5 million square foot California and Las Vegas portfolio.
Previously, Matt served a Managing Director at CBRE within its Advisory and Transaction Services practice and with JLL’s Capital Markets group working on behalf of institutional investors, corporates and public institutions globally.
Matt graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with B.S. in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis.
